VIVEIROS MONTEROSA
Viveiros Monterosa was created in 1972 in the Algarve with the aim of producing vegetables to be sent to Northern Europe. However, huge customs barriers and transport difficulties led the company to change its business plan and start producing potted ornamental plants to supply the national market and, later, export markets as well.
We currently produce around 4 million plants, around 200 products and 130 species from the Mediterranean range, with emphasis on Bougainvillea, Convolvulus, Eucalyptus, Lavandula, Rosmarinus, Jasminum, Nerium oleander, Argyranthemum, Osteospermum, Lampranthus, Aromatics and Succulents.
We have 180 workers and a gross production area of 40 hectares composed by different types of production structures, including heated greenhouses, cold greenhouses, “sombragens” and outdoor production.
We sell approximately 65% of our production in the domestic market during the 12 months of the year and 35% in exports, concentrated mainly in spring. Our main export markets are Holland, France, Germany, Spain, England, Denmark and, more recently, Qatar.
Our main customers are wholesalers, garden centers, DIY and supermarket chains.
The company’s focus is on producing high quality products and providing an excellent service, with respect for the environment, natural resources, working conditions, social responsibility and consumers.
